Eliot Hodgkin: Mixed Flowers in an Oriental Vase, 1956.

This is one of the artist’s few “traditional” still lives. It was commissioned by the Universal Grinding Wheel Company Ltd for the 1957 company calendar. The unicorn depicted on the jug is the company logo. Signed and dated “Eliot Hodgkin 21.VII.56”, tempera, 38.7 × 31 cm.
